In my college days, I went through a brief, ill-considered ska phase. It ended when I realized I just couldn’t do that goofy half-hopping dance while wearing sunglasses indoors. But there was always something about those horns that made me smile, and ska begat rockabilly, which became alt-country, then alt-everything. With an explosion of horns, gittar and twang, The Heart Bionic brings me way back.
