Coconut Records sound like any number of bands, but they do it better than most. “West Coast” is tinged with sadness until the singalong, which breaks the song wide open. Oh, and Jason Schwartzman of Rushmore (and every other Wes Anderson film) fame is in the band. But unlike Keanu Reeves’ “band” (link intentionally omitted) Coconut Records is actually more than their famous head. As a matter of fact, Schwartzman’s previous band, Phantom Planet, was good as well. You might remember P.P. from The O.C.—they played the theme song. I still miss Marissa…
