‘Snakecharming the Masses’ starts with a sharp, driving beat and never lets up. It’s quietly intense, like Donnie Darko. (Gretchen: You’re weird. Donnie: Sorry. Gretchen: No, that was a compliment.) No time travel or menacing rabbits though, so the comparisons end there. The second track, ‘Rooibos – Palm Wine Drinkard’ (a title I totally get), is just as driven but it soars instead of shuffling through the weeds. Want a translation from Music-Blog to good old American English? These guys rock in a way you haven’t heard before.
