As a lifelong Austinite, music is a very important part of my life. Austin City Limits Festival is one of the highlights of the year for both the music enthusiast and the wonderful city of Austin.
So, with that said, I want to introduce some great indie bands that will be playing up and hyping up ACL Fest this year, September 25th-27th, and what day they play. I will also be wrapping up each day during the festival for those who can’t make it, or want to relive it. Wunderbar!
So let’s get started!
Gogol Bordello is my first band to review, and they are a great introduction. Perhaps you have heard of them, but it is a guarantee you won’t forget them. They are a gypsy punk (best hybrid EVER!) band based out of New York City, with members from all over the world. The main event, Eugene Hütz, is the over-energized, half-naked, borderline insane lead singer who keeps attention on him all the time. His voice is, as I have heard, is described as Triumph the Insult Comic Dog and Borat blended together. Exactly.
They stand for political and personal beliefs, and they are one of my most anticipated groups to watch at ACL Fest and beyond. They play Friday at 4:30 on the AT&T stage. Go see them! Enjoy!!
