Vivian Girls are Lo-Fi and fuzzed-out but disarmingly, charmingly, sweet. And undeniably catchy, in a way that’s easier to experience than describe. They’re like Sonic Youth in that way, but more user-friendly. Vivian Girls are also less adventurous, less willing to push any boundaries or leave their edges exposed. As a result, they run the risk of becoming a formula: two-part harmony + gentle distortion = The VG Sound. But for now they’ve crafted a compelling, unique sound, scattered with some great hooks.
More music, including some live tracks, at Gorilla vs. Bear and, of course, Myspace.
