I seem to be sucker for bands that have been around the block a time or two. I get excited about how much I like a group and start talking them up, only to get blank stares in response. “Who?” The 88, I reply. This L.A. trio has been trying to attract attention for years via television, radio, and even on the big screen. With Keith Slettedahl’s vocals and Anthony Zimmitti’s drums, you might compare them to Sunny Day Real Estate. For me, though, Keith sounds more like Robbie Williams. The music is fun to listen to and the piano adds that certain something that separates The 88 from other Indie bands. For a band that works so hard, they deserve all the praise I can give them. The 88′s latest album is “Not only…But also.” Give it a spin.
