Bears make indie pop in its purest form. Although really, many of the band’s tracks sound less “indie” and more like that gentle period between the late 50′s and mid-60′s, when the Beatles still crooned sweetly, before the wonderful weirdness of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. Bears’ music isn’t all sugar and spice though. Several tracks embed dark themes of bitterness and loss in otherwise saccharine melodies, a mixture that will keep you guessing as you nod along.
