Handsome Furs, an unfamiliar band name with a (hopefully) familiar band member. Because you read this blog, I’d assume you’re already familiar with the brilliant Wolf Parade. If not, check them out or at least some of the bands they have spawned. Handsome Furs is just one of the eight different projects that members of Wolf Parade have been a part of. They are some ridiculously simple electro beats crafted by Alexei Perry (the wife) doused in Dan Boeckner’s (the husband) wavering vocals. “What We Had” drones on at just under 4 minutes. The simple beats layered with Boeckner’s warble work perfectly on “Cannot Get Started.” On first listen, they may sound plain but if you give the music a chance, you’ll find yourself loving this duo.
P.S. – The band’s going on tour shortly, and from their myspace, it looks like the live shows are a ra ra ra riot. Literally. Tour link below.
