If there was no mention of where Hot Seconds was from (which is actually Brooklyn), it’d be a no-brainer that everyone would say Manchester. Their sound screams of years past bringing back to memory Primal Scream, Doves, Blur, The Charlatans (UK) and even the more recent Kasabian.

The great harmonies and vocals screams out Tim Burgess’s name (The Charlatans), but in actuality the lead singer is James Love. Their sound is catchy and instantly recognizable. Its hard to fathom that ‘Clam Man’ and ‘Individual’ aren’t really Charlatans b-sides that were just recently found.

‘I Went to India’ starts with a fuzzy bass line that carries the song along and keeps it moving. Bob’s bass lines are pure energy! Its great that with the opening notes of the song it evokes India with the chimes.

My favorite song is the ultra-catchy-pop sounding ‘We Met Before’. From the opening beats, it has you dancing along. You’ll be singing in no time ‘C’mon we met before, tell the truth’. And that is exactly how you will feel upon listening to them. It feels like we have met before and they are old friends. Or in this case, make a new friend.

All of their songs can be heard at www.hotseconds.net. And if we’re any bit lucky - just perhaps they will find a way to be opening for Primal Scream. It does seem to make perfect sense.
