The Bird and the Bee

When you first hear the The Bird and the Bee, you might confuse them with the Welsh pop band “Jem.” If you’re into Welsh pop, I mean. But the B & B are pure L.A., with nary a rabbit in sight. (Welsh Rabbit. Get it? Well what else is Welsh?). The “band” consists of Inara George (the Bird, presumably) and Greg Kurstin (Bee). The two met while Inara was working on a solo project and ultimately fused the Bird’s outstanding voice with Greg’s jazz and electro-pop backing. Kurstin has an impressive backstory, having worked with the Flaming Lips, Beck, and Britain’s indie darling, Lily Allen. You might hear of bit of each in the tracks below. But the end result is brand new. Again and Again is a slice of vamped-up 60’s pop, while Preparedness is more sedate but also a bit more interesting. They’re both worth a listen.
