Stars

Being a fan of Amy Millan has led me to Stars, shoegaze specialists out of Canada. Originally formed in Toronto, then in New York City for a brief shining moment, and now residing in Montreal, Stars creates graceful and delicate indie pop. A slight variation of tone in the vocals gives us exactly what we need to move from one song to the next. If you’re fond of soft instrumentation and lush voices, then I suggest you take the time to listen to more than just a few songs by Stars. Amy Millan and Torquil Campbell have voices that I could listen to over and over again. No bells and whistles in their music, no crazy instrumentation, or rip guitars. Just narrative lyrics and soothing music that will put you at ease, exactly what we all need from time to time.
p.s. ‘My Radio’ is a remix and decidedly more poppy than most of Stars’ discography. Not for purists, but we like it.
