American Football

Indieball remembers: Sometimes stars align. You look up and it’s because someone’s watching you. An iTune comes up on random play to remind you of the greatness of a song from a band long gone. A band you decide more people should know about so you decide that Indieball could use a retrospective review, a This was great. You should own it. Here we have a band, together only three years with only one EP and only one LP* under their belts before moving on to other bands, other songs. But should you forget the 15 or so they did together? No. Especially not as the chill hits the East Coast air and breezes blow dried leaves in your path. And the melody previously hidden by loud sunshine can come through, slowly dawning on you like it’s a good idea to go for a walk and pay closer attention because things are changing, the horns foretell and the voice soothes and you didn’t necessarily feel like you needed soothing but this, this is rather nice and maybe dried leaves don’t mean death so much as they’ve had their day hanging around on some tree and the remaining grass on the solid ground looks like a more comfortable place to rest and sometimes a song makes you feel like the change is good and the past is clutter and the song will usher you through to something new and even if new seems starker: it’s not. Don’t be sad when The Summer Ends because American Football season is in the fall.
*EP and LP still available as MP3s and CDs. (We wouldn’t taunt you with something out of print.) And if you like the band, check out their various side (now main) projects: The Geese, Joan of Arc, Owls, and Owen.
