Ellie Goulding

It’s tough not to compare Ellie Goulding with some of the indie electro female artists which have sprung up over the last 18 months or so, ladies such as Little Boots, Elly Jackson and Florence Welch. So compare I shall do. The first thing you will notice when listening to any track from Ellie Goulding is the individuality of her voice. Sparse and haunting are two words which immediately come to mind. In ‘Starry Eyed’ her voice sounds almost chipmunk like but is somehow not at all annoying.
The production on tracks such as ‘Under The Sheets’ and ‘Starry Eyed’ is brilliantly done, understated is all it needs to be. Too much would take away from Goulding’s vocals. There are already a good few remixes of ‘Under The Sheets’, one of the best comes in the form of a dubstep remix from She Is Danger. Adding more substance to the beat of the track the duo have managed to add an eerie atmosphere to the track. Expect some pretty amazing things from Goulding’s debut album, thanks to the production help from Mark Ronson. I recently featured Ellie in my 10 Acts To Watch Out For In 2010 article over at Indiescreet.
