Drummer

Sometimes, Indieball has a word obsession. About a month ago, the lucky word was Wave, with The Wave Pictures and Wave Machines both being covered in the span of only a few weeks. This month’s word is Drum. After a recent post on The Drums, I maintain the theme, and come at you with Drummer.

No, the name is not ironic. All of the members are, in fact, drummers. While a band comprised of five drummers could prove interesting (and loud), all except one throw in the drumsticks for another instrument. Patrick Carney (The Black Keys) steals the bass. Jamie Stillman (Teeth of the Hydra) hijacks the guitar. Jon Finley (Beaten Awake) rocks the vocals / guitar. Stephen Clements (Houseguest) takes the keys / vocals. Greg Boyd (Ghostman and Sandman) keeps his drumsticks.

Drummer’s recently-released debut album, Feel Good Together, promises just that. From the ice cream sundae album cover to the songs beneath (including a track of the same name, provided here), this is feel-good rock, even in its subtle melancholy. No matter what’s happening, we all are feeling good, together.

Word obsessions can actually lead to some confusion. Last month for some reason I was sure you covered Wavves and spent like half an hour looking through the archives. Anyways, The Wave Pictures and Wave Machines were also a fine finding. Cheers!
