The Streets On Fire are all swagger and punk spirit, combining irresistible hooks with tortured yelps and shouts. The band is from the great state of Illinois, but sounds more like London circa the best years of the Clash and the Sex Pistols. To paraphrase Soul Coughing, The Streets is Chicago, is not Chicago. It’s rare for me to hear a new band – particularly with this sort of raw, unpolished feel – and get really excited. To know a group will go far and fast is a thrill; to pass them on is a pleasure. This is pure rock and roll, kids. Listen and enjoy.
