Elvis Perkins In Dearland

posted by Ariana on December 25, 2009

Don’t underestimate Elvis Perkins in Dearland. They’ll come at you with a full spectrum of sounds and a range of influences, from classic gospely rock-n-roll to religious folk from the core of America. This is perhaps best exemplified by their recent EP, the ‘Doomsday EP,’ which was released in October. A selection from the Sacred Harp songbook, a classic rock throwback, two takes of the title track, and (my personal favorite), a zombie love story. The second song available here, ‘Hey,’ is from their self-titled LP released in March. It has a great bouncy energy that inspires a lot of clapping/nodding at shows. A force to be reckoned with.
