Nothing makes me more happy than when I see a band live that I’ve never heard before and immediately wanting to run out and buy their latest LP. While out at SXSW, I tried to get to see as many bands as I could that I hadn’t heard of or that were recommended to me. The Soft Pack, out of San Diego, California, was a stellar choice. My first thought was garage band indie rock. With hints of bands such as The Subways, The Living End and maybe some old school Surfaris? The reverb stimulates beyond reason and the drummer just never quits. I couldn’t stop moving or get enough of their sound. If you like rollicking indie rock that’s a bit rough around the edges, The Soft Pack is worth a listen.
