How could I pass up the opportunity to write about a band from my home state? I missed these guys out at sxsw this year. Reason being is because everyone must have heard about them and wanted to take a listen. So by the time I reached the venue the line was out the door and around the corner. Bust rest assured I’ll be able to catch them in a few months out at the Siren Festival on Coney Island this year. Lately I’ve been hooked on bands with alot of re verb in their tunes. I just can’t seem to get enough of it. Surfer Blood seems to fill my need. Not to mention the vocals are of equal measure and something pleasant to hear.Their tunes can be compared to such bands like Built To Spill or maybe going back as far as Pavement? You be the judge. Though you may label these guys as Indie Rock or Surf Rock, I feel they are much more than that. What that genre is, I can’t describe with one word. All I know is I like what I hear and suspect we’ll hear more from these guys in the near future as they have only been around for about a year and have already come pretty far for a band. I can’t wait to hear more from them.
