I “discovered” Alela Diane one fine fall day while perusing (read: stalking) Robin Pecknold on one of his many secret internet hideouts (read: White Antelope myspace), and holy crap. Holy crap. I’m generally not one for female vocals, but there’s something about her music that draws me in. It’s lush, have a listen. (Tip: she has a relatively new “companion” EP out, a 6-song duet with Alina Hardin, and you can listen to one beautiful song from it on her myspace.)
(View the video for White as Diamonds here.)
Addendum to my April 5 post: live show in Cambridge was incredible–just a man and a guitar. People were either singing along or stunned into reverent silence. I wish every performer could be that humble & charming.
