Despite the fact that their self-titled debut LP just came out this May, Beach Fossils feel like they have been here the whole of eternal time, waiting for us to discover their history, their influences, their sound. Now, it’s time.
This Brooklyn band has a charming lo-fi simplicity, as the reverb-tinged vocals settle themselves undramatically into the harmonies. Very little was to be found online about the band itself. Instead of making up dramatic stories for your reading pleasure about how Beach Fossils wrote this LP on a remote island only reachable by swimming and toiled for days through shark-infested waters just to reach this mecca with its creativity-sparking atmosphere (reminder: fabricated example for illustrative reasons only), let’s let the music speak for itself. “Youth” and “Sometimes” are included here for that very purpose.
