This isn’t indie and isn’t pop. It’s not even one band. What’s it doing here? Well, Indieball has always been about music we love, music that moves us and makes us move. And I’m happy to report that these tracks by Cee Lo Green and Sharam check all those boxes. They also pull off a neat trick I’ve always been fascinated with: the ability to evoke an earlier era while staying firmly grounded in the here and now. Cee Lo Green is an R&B/hip-hop artist best known as half of Gnarls Barkley and ‘What Part of Forever’ sounds like a souped-up Western singalong. Sharam is also known for being part of a more famous duo: the DJ supergroup Deep Dish. Sharam’s ‘She Came Along’ is a little more hip-hop, and a lot less clean, but there’s some fine 50′s harmony here too. Both tracks are thoroughly addictive and–somehow–fit perfectly together.

For some reason it just got way worse for me when I realized it’s just on the Twilight soundtrack. The lyrics just seem contrived when inspired by that.

Hunh! The Cee-Lo Green track is awesome and yeah, very addicting. Took a while to realize it’s on the Twilight soundtrack, but that didn’t ruin my listening experience too much, it’s nevertheless a great song.
