Bizarre is more interesting. The offbeat band, Winter Gloves, has a fresh new sound that I so desperately needed. Canadian natives, Winter Gloves mixes a unique sound with killer vocals. Their songs are upbeat, catchy, and a little strange, but hey . . . strange is good.
Their sophomore album, All Red, was released in September 2010. I still haven’t been able to fully pinpoint what weird synthesizer sound they use throughout the track “Trap The Mouse,” but nevertheless, I really enjoy it. “Plastic Slides” has some unusual lyrics. The chorus, “I got your picture in my pocket / I keep it for the right time,” can lead “Plastic Slides” to be interpreted in two different ways: as a quirky love song or as a little creepy. Your pick.
If you like Winter Gloves’ music, check out their upcoming tour! In mid March, they leave Canada and tour the east coast. They will be hitting Boston, NYC, Philly, and many other places. If you like good music and cute guys with accents, this band is perfect for you.
