There is nothing more valuable than the love of another. The expression of this entity penetrates our soul and tattoos our senses through the most beautiful of institutions. Art, food, dance, music. Who better to express this compassion than the western world’s most prized and revered form of love: marriage. And what better medium to convey intimate feelings than through music, the vibration of our inner selves and the key to speaking directly to our soul.
Indiana’s husband&wife, a band of seven guys, combine these two remarkable facets of life and music into a sound that preaches about the trials and tribulations of our human connections. Set to vocals reminiscent of late 90’s rock and beautiful guitar riffs, picturesque beats that construct this image of what everyone in our society is essentially seeking: marriage. The content behind the sound (Mike Adams) is compassionate and insightful, speaking of the errors we sometimes face within our realm of desire.
In “Proud Flesh,” the title track off of their fourth album released late last year, the narrative tells of the desolation that may accompany even those who feel surrounded, the depression that we may encounter despite having the supposed people we love around us. “Without love, I think we’ll come apart” is the quintessential lesson to be learned with the band, a message we should never forget exists. The music is here to observe his emotion. This perspective is what manufactures my appeal to husband&wife, that nothing else seems to matter but love. The songs seem almost dedicated to themselves, more of a reminder of what steps we should follow to find peace within. And whoever cares to listen, can.
